This is the third Tshirt i made. For this photo i took it next to a tree thats old and dull with no leaves as it reminds me of the sadness of war.

This is the second Tshirt i made. I decided to take the photo behind a wire fence as it reminds me of a prisoner. Although i havent really made a link in my sketch book of prisoner of war camps it's still a big part of war and this is what i want to do further into my sketch book.

After sketching designs i moved on to make them. This is one of my finished Tshirts that i photographed on a friend in a background i thought linked in with my project. I chose to take the photo next to an old fence with dead branches left from a dead bush with an old and dull tree with no leaves on in the background as it reminds me of the sadness and how depressing WW1 was.

This is one of my design ideas, as im looking at WW1 here i have looked at the trends from 1915-1919. I have took some ideas and put my own twist on it such as the bow on the collar on my design i have made it over sized not only to link in with the theme of WW1 also to bring it into the 20th century. On the side of the page i have put some fabric samples on the side this was to state what colours i wanted it and it also links in with my colour scheme.

This is a double page taken from my sketch book i wanted to show this as it clearly shows the colour scheme, the patterns, the techniques and the textures i have used in my samples and the pages are similar all the way through my sketch book.

This is the last of my samples which is another weave. I chose cream fabric to weave into and a lighter cream fabric with a flower pattern on it and white net to weave with. To decorate i used a flower patterned scrap piece of fabric and hand stitched around it to make an applique effect and stitched WW1 on it. I used these colours all the way through so it links in with my colour scheme.

This weave sample is my favourite so far. I used cream fabric with a flowered pattern on it. Before i started weaving i french knotted all the collumns using rafia. I then started to weave with bubble wrap i did this to create texture but also as its clear you can still see the french knots underneath. As you can see from the photo i have folded it in half i did this because i also really like the back the fabric is plain cream and instead of seeing french knots it looks like its been straight stitched by hand.

This is another weave sample i used the same green patterened fabric to weave into as the last one but used a light and a darker green/grey tissue paper for the weaves. To decorate i used the sewing machine and stitched a square shaped spiral around the weave. You can't really see the thread on this picture because the lighting wasn't very good at the time.

This is another sample but the photo isnt that clear at the time the lighting wasn't that good. This is a weave i used a shinny green fabric, a cream fabric and a dark green patterned fabric to weave into. To decorate i used white wool and couched the word "Britain" onto it to link in my theme of Britain war time in WW1.

This is another sample this one's of the Union Jack i used red wool and couched it on using blue thread. To do the blue part i used blue thread but instead of couching all of it i just couched the end so its all attached to the centre. The reason why i left it hanging is because i wanted each part to be different i really like how free flowing it is and how its not straight and every time i move it, it creates a different shape.

Over the past two weeks i have been working on A2 size samples. This is one of them i used the theme of WW1 and made some small bombs to do this i used some of the fabric i tye-dyed and cut into circles i then hand stitched around them used green thread i chose green as i links in with my colour scheme. To finish it off i used cream ribbon and used red wool to french knot some shading into the bombs. To create the words "Tick" and "Bang" i used red wool and i couched then onto the fabric using a needle and green thread also to link in with my colour scheme. To add extra detail i coffee stained around the edges, around the bombs and around the wording to make it stand out. I like this as i makes the sample look old and links in with WW1.

I've created some natural dry samples one yellow and the other three turned brown. I used different things to create this such as curry powder and soy sause. I've also made a Batik using wax and experimented with tie dye.
Now i'm starting to research different fashion trends from WW1 and sketching out some design idea's of tops and skirts.
